Faro Private Boat Tour – Explore Ria Formosa Islands
A four-hour private voyage through protected lagoon waters to Deserta and Farol Islands
The Faro private boat tour takes you deep into the channels of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of Portugal's most celebrated coastal wetlands. Over four hours on the water, your group explores the lagoon at its own pace aboard a fully private vessel. The experience is relaxed, personal, and suited to families, couples, and friends travelling together.
Ria Formosa stretches along the eastern Algarve coastline, sheltering a mosaic of islands, sandbanks, and tidal channels behind a protective barrier. The natural park is a recognised wetland of international importance and home to a remarkable range of birdlife and marine species.
Departing from Faro, the boat crosses calm inner waters before reaching the two main island destinations. Guests are free to bring their own drinks and refreshments on board, making the journey as leisurely or lively as they prefer.
Free snorkelling masks are available on the boat for those who wish to explore the clear shallow waters around the islands. The warm Atlantic conditions and sandy seabed make for easy, enjoyable snorkelling without the need for prior experience.

Tour Itinerary
Board your private vessel at the meeting point in Faro and receive a brief orientation from the crew. The boat sets off into the sheltered channels of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
The boat navigates the natural waterways of the park, passing through tidal flats and sandbanks that characterise this protected lagoon system. The scenery changes gradually as the open sea approaches.
Arrive at Deserta Island, a barrier island featuring 11 kilometres of unspoiled beach and the distinction of being the southernmost point of mainland Portugal. Guests may swim, snorkel, or walk along the shore.
Continue to Farol Island to explore the small fishing village built around its iconic lighthouse. The Cabo de Santa Maria headland offers a striking vantage point over the Atlantic coastline.
The boat retraces the lagoon channels back to the departure point in Faro, completing the four-hour circuit. Guests are welcome to relax on deck with their own drinks during the return journey.
