East Glacial River Rafting
Tackle one of Europe's most formidable glacial rivers across 16 kilometres of raw canyon rapids
East Glacial River rafting is rated Class 4+ and consistently ranks among the most challenging and rewarding whitewater experiences available in Europe. This 4.5-hour expedition takes participants through a dramatic glacial canyon where powerful rapids and striking scenery combine into an unforgettable journey.
The adventure begins at the boathouse, where a team of professional guides outfits every participant with wetsuits, dry tops, helmets, buoyancy aids, and rafting booties before the group transfers to the river put-in deep in the East Valley. A thorough safety briefing covers everything needed to navigate the river confidently.
On the water, the group encounters a series of named rapids — including Alarm Clock, Commitment, Screaming Lady, and the renowned Green Room — each presenting a distinct challenge shaped by the canyon's glacial flow. Water levels permitting, the trip also includes optional cliff jumping for those seeking an additional rush.
At the take-out point, the bus returns the group to base where hot soup and the warmth of the on-site hot tubs await. The 20-minute return journey offers a chance to decompress and share the highlights of the run.
