Florence to Chianti: Wine Tastings and Vineyard Escape
Roll through Tuscany's legendary hills, discover two authentic wine estates, and return to Florence with a cellar's worth of memories.
A Chianti wine tour from Florence is one of the most rewarding half-day escapes available to visitors in Tuscany, combining genuine cellar visits, guided tastings, and the kind of countryside scenery that defines this region. Two family-run wine estates open their doors for an experience grounded in local tradition and personal hospitality. The pace is easy, the landscapes are extraordinary, and the wines speak for themselves.
Departing from central Florence, the journey into the Chianti Classico zone takes roughly 40 minutes by comfortable coach. Along the way, your guide introduces the history of wine production in the area and explains the significance of the Gallo Nero, the black rooster emblem that has symbolised quality Chianti wines for centuries.
At each estate, guests are welcomed by the owners themselves, a detail that sets this tour apart from larger, more impersonal excursions. The cellars reveal the technical side of winemaking, while the terraces and vineyard paths offer space to simply absorb the cypress-lined hills and olive groves stretching in every direction.
Between the two estates, guests sample up to six to eight wines in total, both red and white, accompanied by local antipasti including extra virgin olive oil, aged cheese, and balsamic vinegar. Bottles can be purchased directly from the estates and shipped home if needed.
