Important Information
Cave access and dolphin watching take place in natural environments subject to weather and sea conditions. The Maritime Authority of Portimão and the vessel captain make daily safety assessments, sometimes without prior notice. Please review all conditions below before booking.
Duration
Approximately 3 hours. Timing may vary based on sea state, wildlife conditions, and Maritime Authority guidelines.
Meeting Point
Restaurante Vista Rio - Hotel Riverside, Parchal. Cross the railway line and proceed straight to the car park on your right. Walk approximately 30 metres to the boarding pier directly in front of the restaurant. Wait on the pier for a crew member — do not descend to the boat unaccompanied.
What to Bring
Sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a windbreaker or jacket — even in summer, the open Atlantic is noticeably cooler. Comfortable clothing, towel, swimwear in summer, and binoculars are recommended. Protect all electronic devices against water. Personal drinks and snacks are welcome; no glass containers permitted.
Cancellation Policy
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure. If the tour is cancelled due to unsafe navigation conditions, it will be rescheduled or a full refund issued. No refund is provided if dolphins are not sighted after an extensive search or if cave access is restricted by the Maritime Authority or for safety reasons.
Accessibility
Stroller and wheelchair accessibility depends on sea and boarding conditions. Contact the operator directly before booking to discuss specific requirements and ensure suitability.
Age Range
Minimum age is 3 years; maximum age is 99 years. The tour is not suitable for babies under 2 years old, pregnant women, or individuals with severe back problems due to open-sea navigation conditions.
Reserve Your Private Boat Experience
Spaces are limited to your group alone. Secure your private tour of the Algarve's dolphins and sea caves and create a memory that belongs entirely to your group.
Dolphins are wild animals and cannot be guaranteed, but the operator reports a 98% sighting success rate. If no dolphins are found after an extensive search, no refund is issued, as the tour takes place in an unpredictable natural environment.
Can access to the Benagil Cave be refused on the day?▼
Yes. Entry to the Benagil Cave depends on the daily assessment of sea conditions by the Maritime Authority of Portimão and the vessel captain. If access is restricted for safety reasons, a coastal navigation tour will be conducted instead, and no refund is issued.
Is this tour suitable for young children and families?▼
The tour welcomes guests from 3 years old and is designed with a family-friendly atmosphere. Children under 2 years old are not permitted due to open-sea conditions. Families should also dress children warmly, as Atlantic temperatures can be cool even in summer.
Where exactly is the meeting point and is parking available?▼
The meeting point is at Restaurante Vista Rio - Hotel Riverside in Parchal. Free parking is available on site. Cross the railway line, proceed straight, and walk about 30 metres to the boarding pier in front of the restaurant.

This private boat tour departs from Parchal, a riverside village on the Arade estuary in the Lagoa municipality of the Algarve, southern Portugal. The itinerary covers the Arade River, the coastal waters off Portimão and Ferragudo, the open Atlantic Ocean where dolphins are regularly sighted, and the Lagoa coastline, which includes the world-famous Benagil Cave — a natural sea arch widely recognised as one of the most photographed landmarks on the Algarve coast. The region sits within the southwest Atlantic seaboard of Portugal, a marine environment known for populations of common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and various seabird species. The Benagil Cave is located within the Lagoa district and is accessible only by boat or kayak, making it a defining feature of Algarve maritime tourism.
