Benagil Cave Classic Boat Tour from Armação de Pêra
Sail the wild Algarve coast and step inside one of the world's most photographed sea caves.
This guided Benagil Cave boat tour departs from Armação de Pêra and covers 10 caves and 12 beaches along one of southern Portugal's most dramatic coastlines. The route is designed to show you the full character of the Algarve shore in just one hour, without the crowds that gather on the most frequented approaches.
Departing from Fisherman's Beach, the journey traces the golden limestone cliffs that define this stretch of the Alentejo-Algarve border zone. Stops include Marinha Beach, consistently ranked among Europe's finest, and the quieter coves of Albandeira and Cova Redonda, where the rock formations rise directly from the sea.
The route concludes at Benagil Cave, a cathedral-like sea cavern with a natural skylight dome open to the sky above. Entering by boat is the only reliable way to experience the interior, and the guided commentary provided en route gives geological and cultural context to each landmark along the way.

Route Overview
Board the vessel at the designated meeting point near Pedro's Bar, identifiable by the large blue flag and staff in blue Sétima Onda t-shirts. Arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled departure to complete check-in.
The first segment of the route passes a series of smaller beaches framed by layered sandstone cliffs. The varied rock strata and sea-carved arches here set the tone for the geological character of the journey ahead.
Marinha Beach is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, with its dramatic rock stacks and clear turquoise water. The Arches of Marinha, visible only from the sea, are a defining feature of this section of the coast.
These quieter coves offer a contrast to the more visited stretches, with sheltered waters and towering cliff faces. The approach by boat reveals cave openings and rock shelves not visible from the beach itself.
The tour arrives at Benagil Cave, entering the cavern through the natural sea-level opening. The interior dome, open to the sky, creates a striking light effect that makes this one of the most distinctive natural landmarks in Portugal.
After visiting Benagil Beach, the vessel returns along the coast to the original departure point. The return leg offers additional views of the cliffs and cave openings from a different angle.
