Balos Lagoon Private Tour with Wine Tasting and Seafood Lunch
A full-day private escape combining Crete's most iconic lagoon, a family winery, and a seaside seafood lunch.
This Balos Lagoon private tour brings together three of Crete's most celebrated experiences — the turquoise waters of Balos, a guided tasting at a family-owned winery, and a slow seafood lunch by the sea — into one carefully structured, fully private day.
Travelling in a premium air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated English-speaking driver, you move at your own pace without the constraints of group schedules. The itinerary is designed for couples, families, and small groups of friends who value comfort, authenticity, and direct access to places that matter.
From the moment of pick-up in the Chania Region to the final drop-off at your accommodation, every element of the day has been arranged to reduce friction and increase enjoyment. There are no shared coaches, no waiting, and no compromise on quality.
Tour Highlights
Swim and relax in the shallow turquoise waters of Balos Lagoon, one of Greece's most photographed natural landscapes.
Stop at the Balos Panorama viewpoint for sweeping aerial views of the lagoon and surrounding coastline before descending to the beach.
Visit the Pnevmatikakis Winery in Drapanias for a guided tasting of five to seven wines, including traditional Cretan white, rosé, and red varieties.
Enjoy a leisurely seafood lunch at a seaside taverna in the Kissamos area, with fresh catch, Cretan salads, and local wine.
Travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with a personal driver — no shared transport, no group itineraries.
Explore a fully protected natural area where there are no commercial facilities — Balos remains in its wild, undeveloped state.
Itinerary
Your driver collects you from your hotel, villa, or agreed meeting point in the Chania Region. The route follows Crete's scenic western coastline toward the Gramvousa Peninsula.
On arrival near Balos, you stop at the panorama viewpoint for photography and a first view of the lagoon from above. A downhill walk of roughly 20 to 30 minutes leads directly to the water's edge.
You have approximately two to two and a half hours at the lagoon to swim, explore the shoreline, or simply rest on the white-pink sand. Umbrellas, towels, and water are provided by your driver. Note that Balos is a protected natural area with no on-site facilities.
Located in Drapanias, the Pnevmatikakis Winery offers a short tour of its production and aging areas followed by a guided tasting of five to seven wines. There is time to purchase bottles or local products before continuing.
A short drive from the winery brings you to a seaside taverna in the Kissamos area. Lunch typically includes Cretan appetizers, a main course of fresh fish or seafood, local wine or soft drinks, and a seasonal dessert. Vegetarian options are available on request.
After lunch, your driver returns you to your accommodation in the Chania Region. Drop-off is at your hotel or villa.
