Whether you have never danced before or already know a few basic steps, this one-hour session is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Samba is inseparable from Rio de Janeiro's identity, from the thundering drums of carnival processions to the intimate roda de samba circles found in the city's neighborhoods. Learning even a handful of foundational movements offers a window into how Cariocas express community, celebration, and heritage through motion.
Classes are structured into two levels, basic and intermediate, so the choreography you practice matches your current ability. The session concludes with an opportunity to take photos and videos wearing authentic carnival costumes available inside the studio, giving you a tangible memory to carry home.
Your instructor, Carla Campos, developed the Samba Fit method in 1997 and brings more than two decades of performance experience from Rio's prominent samba schools, where she appeared as drum queen, floor standout, and dancer. She has also taught internationally across several European countries, making her equally comfortable working with complete beginners and seasoned movers.
