8-Day Turkey Tour: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Konya, Pamukkale & Ephesus by Flights
A curated journey through Turkey's most iconic landscapes and ancient cities, designed for small groups seeking depth over distance.
This 8-day Turkey small group tour connects Istanbul, Cappadocia, Konya, Pamukkale, and Ephesus in a single well-paced itinerary that includes two domestic flights to minimize long road transfers. With a maximum of 10 travelers per departure, every visit remains intimate and unhurried.
Accommodation ranges from a boutique cave hotel in Cappadocia to a thermal spa hotel in Pamukkale, a boutique property in Kusadasi, and a characterful hotel in Istanbul's historic district. The variety reflects the distinct character of each destination rather than a uniform chain-hotel experience.
Two domestic flights — Istanbul to Kayseri (Cappadocia) and Izmir to Istanbul — are included in the package price. The only extended overland drive is the eight-hour journey between Cappadocia and Pamukkale, a route for which no practical direct flight exists.
Sites visited span more than three millennia of continuous human history: from the rock-cut churches of Goreme and the underground cities of Cappadocia, to the marble streets of Ephesus, the cotton-white travertine pools of Pamukkale, and the imperial monuments of Ottoman Istanbul.
Tour Highlights
Walk through Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque on a guided Istanbul city tour.
Descend into Ozkonak Underground City, one of Cappadocia's best-preserved multi-level subterranean settlements.
Walk the snow-white travertine terraces of Pamukkale and explore the ancient city of Hierapolis above them.
Tour the ruins of Ephesus, including the Celsus Library, Grand Theatre, and the Temple of Artemis.
Visit the Goreme Open Air Museum for Byzantine frescoes carved into volcanic rock between the 10th and 13th centuries.
Pay respects at the House of the Virgin Mary on the Aladag Mountains near Ephesus, a recognized Catholic pilgrimage site.
Overnight in a traditional Cappadocia cave hotel and a five-star thermal hotel in Pamukkale.
Itinerary Overview
Arrive at Istanbul Ataturk (IST) or Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) airport. A tour representative meets you with a name sign and provides a private transfer to your boutique hotel in the historic district. No activities are scheduled; the day is yours to settle in.
After breakfast, a walking tour covers the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar (replaced by the Spice Market on Sundays). Note that live guiding inside Hagia Sophia has not been permitted since January 2024; a smartphone with headphones is recommended for the digital audio system on-site.
An early flight takes the group to Izmir. The guide leads a visit to the Temple of Artemis, then into Ephesus itself — marble-paved streets, the Celsus Library, Hadrian Temple, and the 24,000-seat Grand Theatre. The House of the Virgin Mary follows before the group transfers to Kusadasi for the night.
Day 4 continues with a drive to Pamukkale. The itinerary covers the travertine terraces, the thermal pools, and the ruins of Hierapolis including the Apollo Temple, Grand Theatre, and Necropolis. Overnight is at a thermal hotel where guests can swim in the hotel's own thermal pools.
The day involves a full overland transfer of approximately eight hours from Pamukkale to Cappadocia, with a stop in Konya to visit the Mevlana Mausoleum — the resting place of the 13th-century Sufi mystic Rumi. Overnight in a cave hotel in Cappadocia.
Day 6 focuses on the Three Sisters Fairy Chimneys in Urgup, Ozkonak Underground City, the Goreme Open Air Museum, and a panoramic stop at Uchisar Rock Castle. Day 7 begins in Devrent Valley, continues to Pasabag fairy chimneys, then to Avanos for a live pottery demonstration before an afternoon flight from Kayseri back to Istanbul.
After breakfast, guests check out and receive a private transfer to Istanbul airport or Sabiha Gokcen airport for their international departure. Tour services conclude at the airport.
