Discover Oman: Wadis, Desert Dunes, and Ancient Heritage
A private journey through sinkholes, mountain villages, and golden sands.
This 3-day private tour in Oman takes you from the dramatic coastline of Bimmah Sinkhole and Fins Beach through the winding canyon of Wadi Shab to the sweeping dunes of Wahiba Sands and the UNESCO-listed heights of Jebel Akhdar. Private transfers ensure flexibility while a dedicated guide provides context at every stop. The pace is easy and suitable for most travelers.
Oman rewards those who look beyond the obvious. The country holds one of the Arabian Peninsula's most intact ancient landscapes, from beehive tombs recognized by UNESCO as a Bronze Age time capsule to the living falaj irrigation systems that have sustained mountain communities for centuries. Each site on this itinerary has been selected to reflect that layered heritage.
Along the route you will encounter turquoise wadis, white-sand beaches, a working dhow factory in Sur, and a desert camp where dinner is served around an open fire. The transition from ocean to mountain to desert within three days gives a remarkably complete picture of Oman's geography.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
The day opens at Bimmah Sinkhole, a large crater near the sea with a small lake at its floor, before moving to Fins Beach with its white sand and vivid blue water. The afternoon is devoted to a 35-minute hike through the canyon of Wadi Shab, leading to a series of warm swimming pools and ultimately a crevice cave with a small waterfall where sunlight filters in and turns the water turquoise. A photo stop at lush Wadi Tiwi closes the afternoon before the drive to the overnight hotel in Ras Al Hadd.
After breakfast the group heads to Sur to view old fortresses and the working Arabian dhow factory, where traditional wooden vessels are constructed by hand. The route continues inland to the Omani Ghazal Farm in Al Kamel before reaching Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the largest and most scenic wadis in the country, where swimming and relaxation are possible. The late afternoon brings arrival at a desert camp in Wahiba Sands for a 4x4 dune drive, sunset viewing, a campfire dinner, and an overnight stay under the stars.
The final morning visits the UNESCO-listed Zukait Tower Tombs in Izki, a remarkably preserved Bronze Age landscape containing ancient beehive tombs recognized as a World Heritage Site since 1988. The route then climbs to Jebel Akhdar, reaching the Saiq Plateau at 2,000 meters above sea level within the Al Hajar Mountains range. After lunch, the group passes through the mountain village of Birkat Al Mouz and stops at the historic falaj irrigation system of Al Kattmyn before returning to Muscat.
