Overnight Camping at White Desert and Bahariya Oasis
Two days of ancient oases, volcanic landscapes, and wind-sculpted formations rising from the Egyptian Sahara.
This two-day journey from Cairo takes you deep into Egypt's Western Desert, where White Desert National Park reveals a surreal terrain of chalk-white rock formations unlike anywhere else on Earth. All entry fees are included, and accommodation is provided in a desert campsite beneath open skies.
The route passes through geological wonders that span millions of years of natural history. From the dark volcanic cones of the Black Desert to the crystal-studded ridge of Crystal Mountain, each stop presents a distinct and compelling landscape before the pale formations of the White Desert come into view.
Bahariya Oasis anchors both days of the itinerary, offering a contrast between living desert community and raw wilderness. On the return leg, visits to a significant archaeological burial site and traditional landmarks round out a journey that balances natural and cultural discovery.
Tour Highlights
Walk among the iconic chalk formations of White Desert National Park, shaped by wind erosion over thousands of years.
Explore Bahariya Oasis, a fertile depression in the Western Desert that has supported human settlement since antiquity.
Discover Crystal Mountain, a ridge embedded with quartz crystals that catch the desert light in remarkable ways.
Spend a night at a desert campsite in Al Haiz, falling asleep under one of Egypt's most unspoiled night skies.
Visit the Mummies Museum and the Tomb of Bannantiu, both located within the Bahariya Oasis burial complex.
Soak in the natural hot spring at the Valley of El Haize, a rare geothermal feature set within the desert landscape.
Pass through the Valley of Agabat, where unusual rocky formations create a dramatic corridor through the desert floor.
