Day Trip to the Famous Tulip Route in Noordoostpolder
Follow one of the world's most celebrated road trips through the heart of Dutch tulip country.
The Tulip Route Noordoostpolder winds through the largest flower-growing region in the Netherlands, offering visitors a rare chance to witness vast fields of blooming tulips stretching to the horizon. This full-day guided tour departs from Amsterdam each spring, covering 100 kilometers of color-saturated countryside recognized by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful road trips on earth.
Unlike curated display gardens, the Noordoostpolder is an active agricultural landscape where tulip farming has shaped the region for generations. The polders — land reclaimed from the sea — create a flat, open canvas that makes the scale of the flower fields truly remarkable.
The route passes through fields planted in distinct bands of red, yellow, purple, and white, creating a visual effect that is difficult to prepare for and impossible to forget. Several stops allow travelers to walk alongside the fields and photograph the blooms at close range.
Spring in this region lasts only a few weeks, and peak flowering depends on weather conditions each year. The small-group format ensures a more personal experience and easier access to the roadside stops along the route.
