Shared Tour: Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii
Three iconic destinations, one unforgettable day along the southern coast of Italy
This shared tour Positano Sorrento and Pompeii brings together the elegance of a cliffside town, the charm of a historic coastal city, and the raw history of a preserved Roman ruin in a single well-paced day. Traveling in a small group of no more than eight passengers, you benefit from a more personal pace and shared discovery. The itinerary covers three of the most celebrated sites in southern Italy without the crowds of large-group tours.
Sorrento stands on a terrace of volcanic rock above the Bay of Naples, offering sweeping views of the sea and a town center filled with lemon groves, ceramic workshops, and centuries-old piazzas. A guided walk through the old quarters reveals the city's layered history, from Greek foundations to Norman architecture to Baroque churches that define its skyline today.
From Sorrento, the route follows the Amalfi Coast road to Positano, a village built into a cliff face where pastel buildings cascade toward a pebble beach. The stop allows time to explore the narrow lanes, visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, and take in the scenery that has made this stretch of coastline a reference point in Mediterranean travel.
The day concludes at Pompeii, the Roman city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and preserved beneath volcanic ash for nearly seventeen centuries. Walking through excavated streets, bathhouses, forums, and homes offers a direct encounter with daily life in the ancient world that no museum can fully replicate.

Itinerary
The tour begins with pickup and a comfortable drive toward Sorrento, situated on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples. The journey itself offers early views of the Campanian landscape.
Upon arrival in Sorrento, the group explores the historic center on foot, visiting its piazzas, artisan streets, and viewpoints above the bay. The town's layered history from ancient Greek settlement to its present form becomes visible through its architecture and local culture.
The route follows the winding SS163 coastal road, considered one of the most scenic drives in Europe, with views of steep cliffs, terraced gardens, and turquoise water below.
Time in Positano allows exploration of the village's stepped alleyways, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its majolica-tiled dome, and the seafront. The visual character of the town, with its colored facades built into the cliffside, makes it one of the Amalfi Coast's most photographed locations.
The group departs the coast and travels inland toward the archaeological site of Pompeii, located near the base of Mount Vesuvius in the Campania region.
A walk through Pompeii's excavated districts covers the Forum, the thermal baths, preserved homes, and the plaster casts that document the human presence at the moment of the eruption. The visit concludes before the return journey.
