Calasetta Scooter Hire: Explore Southwest Sardinia on Two Wheels
Freedom, flexibility, and the open road across some of Italy's most dramatic coastal scenery.
A scooter hire in Calasetta puts the entire southwest corner of Sardinia within reach, letting you craft your own route across volcanic islands, ancient mining landscapes, and sweeping sandy shores. You ride at your own pace, with no fixed schedule and no tour group to keep up with.
Starting from Calasetta on the Island of Sant'Antioco, you can board a short ferry crossing to San Pietro Island and the colourful fishing village of Carloforte, or head south along the coast to Portopino and the vast dune system of Is Arenas. Each direction offers a distinct character, from turquoise coves to wind-sculpted sand formations.
The scenic inland route through Fontanamare, Gonnesa, and down to Masua beach reveals a side of Sardinia shaped by industrial heritage. Here, the cliff-hanging mineral port of Porto Flavia and the dramatic sea stack known as Pan di Zucchero, the tallest stack in Italy, create a landscape unlike anywhere else in the Mediterranean.
The Honda SH 125 is practical, fuel-efficient, and well suited to both coastal roads and light inland routes. All essential accessories are provided, and 100 km of mileage is included in the daily rate, giving you a solid range to cover the main highlights of the area.

Ride to the ferry terminal and cross to San Pietro Island. Carloforte, the island's only town, is known for its Ligurian heritage, pastel facades, and fresh tuna cuisine.
Head south along the coastline toward Portopino, then continue to the Is Arenas dune system. The dunes stretch along a protected stretch of beach backed by Mediterranean scrub.
Take the scenic inland road through Fontanamare and Gonnesa before descending to Masua beach. From the beach, you can look out to Pan di Zucchero and walk to the Porto Flavia mining platform built directly into the cliff face.
