Procida: Boat Ride Around the Island
A full circumnavigation of one of the most authentic and visually striking islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
This Procida boat tour offers a rare opportunity to discover the volcanic coastline, hidden coves, and centuries-old maritime heritage of one of southern Italy's most captivating islands from the water. Departing from the main ports of Ischia, the four-hour excursion circles the entire island before allowing time to explore on foot. The itinerary is rated easy, making it accessible for a wide range of travelers.
Procida is the smallest of the three sister islands in the Gulf of Naples, yet it carries a landscape shaped by volcanic forces over millennia. Tuff rock cliffs drop sharply into crystal-clear waters, and the shoreline is punctuated by natural sea caves, secluded beaches, and dramatic promontories carved by the sea. The island's modest size belies the density and variety of what it offers visually from the water.
A two-hour stop at Marina Grande provides a chance to step off the boat and walk through the lanes of the island's historic center. The fortified hilltop settlement of Terra Murata and the layered pastels of the Corricella fishing village are among the most photographed scenes in the entire Gulf of Naples. Both are accessible on foot from the port within a short walk.
The nature reserve of Vivara Island, connected to Procida by a pedestrian bridge, forms a protected natural pocket that is visible during the circumnavigation. This uninhabited islet retains traces of ancient craters and dense Mediterranean scrub, offering a strong contrast to the inhabited and colorful sections of Procida's waterfront.

Itinerary
The tour departs from one of the main ports on the island of Ischia: Forio, Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola, or Ischia Porto. The boat heads across the open water toward Procida, crossing the short stretch of the Tyrrhenian Sea that separates the two islands.
The boat circles the island, hugging the coastline to reveal tuff cliffs, sea caves, and secluded beaches unreachable by land. Along the way, the boat passes the Chiaiolella marina, the Terra Murata citadel, and the natural reserve of Vivara Island.
From the water, the multicolored facades of Corricella come into view — a historic fishing village whose terraced houses climb the hillside above a small harbor. This is one of the most distinctive and photographed panoramas in the entire Bay of Naples.
The boat docks at Marina Grande, Procida's main port, for a two-hour stop on land. Visitors are free to walk through the historic center, visit local shops and cafes, or make their way up toward Terra Murata for elevated views over the island.
After the land visit, the group re-boards the boat for the return journey to Ischia. The tour concludes at the original departure port.
