Less Walking Private Tour: Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary & Temple of Artemis
Discover two millennia of history with minimal walking — tailored entirely for your group.
This private Ephesus less walking tour is designed for travelers who want to experience the ancient wonders of western Turkey without the physical demands of a standard archaeological site visit. Your private guide meets you directly at the Kusadasi port or hotel and accompanies you throughout the full itinerary. Every stop, pace, and pause is entirely your choice.
The route takes in three of the most historically significant sites in the Aegean region: the House of Virgin Mary, the Ancient City of Ephesus via a reduced-walking entrance route, and the remains of the Temple of Artemis. Together they span Greek, Roman, and early Christian history across a compact four-hour window.
Because this is a fully private tour, there are no fixed group schedules to follow. Your guide carries pre-paid tickets to bypass entrance queues, and the itinerary can be adjusted on the day to suit your group's interests and mobility needs.

Itinerary
Your private guide meets you at the Kusadasi Cruise Terminal or your hotel with a name sign. After a brief introduction, you depart for the Ephesus area, approximately a 20-minute drive inland.
The first stop is the House of Virgin Mary, situated on the Aladag Mountains roughly five miles from Ephesus. Historical records from the Third Ecumenical Council of 431 AD indicate that Mary traveled to Ephesus with St. John in 37 AD and resided here until 48 AD. Pope Paul VI prayed at this site in 1967, cementing its international significance.
Entering from the upper gate, the group follows a curated path of approximately 300 meters through the site. Stops include the Roman Bath, Bouleuterion, Prytaneion, State Agora, and Water Palace, before reaching the observation deck for a panoramic view of the lower city and the Library of Celsus.
A short drive leads to the remaining column of the Temple of Artemis, once counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your guide provides historical context before the group returns toward Kusadasi.
The tour concludes with a drive back to Kusadasi city center and the port or hotel. Time is available for last-minute shopping in the town center if the group wishes.
