Pyramids, Museums and Coptic Cairo
Two days of discovery across ancient monuments, royal treasures, and sacred Christian heritage in Cairo.
This private 2-day Cairo tour takes you from the iconic Giza Plateau to the storied halls of world-class museums and the spiritual depths of Coptic Cairo, all at a relaxed, easy pace. A dedicated guide and private air-conditioned vehicle handle every transfer, so you focus entirely on the experience. Each day is structured to balance major landmarks with quieter, more personal moments of discovery.
On the first day, you begin at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo, home to over 50,000 artifacts that trace the full arc of Egyptian history. From there, the route continues to the Giza Plateau to stand before the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus, followed by the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple of Chephren. The afternoon brings you inside the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, where more than 250,000 genuine artifacts are displayed, including the legendary treasures of Tutankhamun.
The second day is devoted entirely to Old Cairo and the Coptic quarter, one of the most spiritually significant areas in Egypt. The Holy Family is said to have sought refuge here, and the churches and cave sanctuaries built over that memory draw pilgrims and visitors from across the world. The day ends at the Cave Church of St. Simon the Tanner on Moqattam Mountain, a carved rock complex unlike anything else in the country.
Lunch at a local restaurant is included on both days, and all transfers are handled door to door from your hotel. The difficulty level is rated easy, making this itinerary accessible for most travelers regardless of physical condition.

Itinerary
Your guide picks you up from your Cairo or Giza hotel and drives to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Old Cairo. The museum holds 50,000 artifacts covering prehistoric, pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic, and modern Egyptian history. This opening visit sets the historical context for everything that follows.
The tour continues to the Giza Plateau for visits to the three major pyramids and the Great Sphinx, which dates from the reign of Chephren. The nearby Valley Temple, also associated with the Chephren complex, provides an up-close look at Old Kingdom stone construction. Lunch follows at a local restaurant.
The afternoon session takes you to the Egyptian Museum, which houses the world's largest collection of ancient Egyptian art and artifacts. More than 250,000 objects are on display across two floors, with particular emphasis on the Tutankhamun galleries. The exhibit presents gold, jewelry, and funerary objects sealed in the young king's tomb for over 3,500 years before discovery in the 1920s.
Day two begins with a hotel pickup and a drive to the Coptic quarter of Old Cairo, built around the ancient Fort of Babylon. The Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergious) stands over the cave where the Holy Family is believed to have taken shelter during their flight into Egypt. Nearby, the Church of St. Barbara and the celebrated Hanging Church offer well-preserved examples of early Christian architecture in Egypt.
The final stop is the Monastery of St. Simon the Tanner, a complex of seven cave churches carved directly into the rock face of Moqattam Mountain. The main amphitheater seats up to 20,000 people and remains an active place of worship. Lunch at a local restaurant precedes the return transfer to your hotel.
