11 Days Ultimate Iceland Ring Road Tour (Private)
A fully guided private circuit through Iceland's most iconic landscapes, from glaciers to geothermal fields.
This Iceland Ring Road private tour takes you on an 11-day journey around the entire island, covering the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the East Fjords, the volcanic north, the glacier lagoons of the south, and the historic Golden Circle — all without the stress of self-driving or shared group transport.
A dedicated guide accompanies you throughout, handling logistics while you focus on the scenery. The itinerary balances well-known landmarks with quieter, less-visited corners, offering a rounded picture of what Iceland actually looks and feels like across its varied regions.
In winter, the tour operates under northern lights conditions, and clear evenings offer the genuine possibility of aurora sightings. In summer, the midnight sun extends every day's potential, and boat tours on Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon become available alongside glacier hikes and canyon walks.
Optional activities at multiple stops allow you to shape the experience around your interests — whether that means soaking in geothermal baths, exploring a blue ice cave, snorkeling between tectonic plates, or simply watching seals on a golden-sand beach.
Tour Highlights
Explore the interior of a blue ice cave beneath Breiðamerkurjökull glacier during winter months.
Walk the black sand shores of Reynisfjara and Diamond Beach, where Atlantic waves meet basalt cliffs and glistening ice chunks.
Witness the raw geothermal power of Hverir's mud pools and Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring.
Photograph Kirkjufell mountain alongside Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall on the scenic Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Stand before Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall, and Gullfoss, fed by meltwater from Iceland's second-largest glacier.
Visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where two tectonic plates visibly drift apart.
Chase the northern lights on winter evenings across multiple locations along the ring road circuit.
Itinerary Overview
Your guide meets you at Keflavik arrivals hall. The first stop is the Blue Lagoon for a restorative soak in mineral-rich geothermal waters. Depending on arrival time, the route may also include the Old Akranes Lighthouse, Deildartunguhver hot spring, and Hraunfossar waterfall before an overnight stay near Borgarnes.
A full day explores the western peninsula, taking in Kirkjufell and its adjacent waterfall, the isolated Black Church of Búðir, the sea cliffs of Arnarstapi, the coastal arch at Hellnar, and the seal colony at Ytri Tunga Beach. The group returns to the Borgarnes area for a second night.
The route heads north past the basalt sea stack Hvítserkur and through the Tröllaskagi Peninsula, with its mountain valleys and coastal panoramas. The day ends in Akureyri, Iceland's northern capital, known for its botanical gardens and lively waterfront.
Starting from Akureyri, the day covers Goðafoss waterfall, the birdlife and lava formations of Lake Mývatn, the sulfur-scented geothermal field at Hverir, and the sheer force of Dettifoss. An optional visit to Stuðlagil Canyon adds dramatic basalt column scenery in summer.
A scenic drive along the East Fjords passes the granite egg sculptures at Eggin í Gleðivík in Djúpivogur, the quiet cascade of Skútafoss, and the dramatic black sand beach beneath the jagged peaks of Vestrahorn at Stokksnes Peninsula. Watch for wild reindeer along the coastal road.
The morning centers on the 200-meter-deep glacier lagoon, where icebergs calve from Breiðamerkurjökull and drift toward the sea. Across the road, Diamond Beach showcases ice fragments scattered across black sand. Optional boat tours and the winter blue ice cave experience are available here before continuing west along the south coast.
