Boat Trip to the Caves of Ponta da Piedade in Lagos
Navigate through sculpted sea caves, hidden grottoes, and iconic golden cliffs along the Algarve coast.
The Ponta da Piedade boat tour takes you along one of the most photographed coastlines in Portugal, weaving through narrow passages, cavernous grottos, and secluded coves carved from ancient sandstone.
Departing from the Marina de Lagos, this small-group experience accommodates no more than ten passengers, ensuring an unhurried and personal encounter with the natural formations that define the western Algarve shoreline. A bilingual captain guides the journey with live commentary throughout.
The route passes through arched corridors, enters the chambers of multiple sea caves, and skirts past beaches accessible only from the water. The experience is equally suited to first-time visitors and returning travellers seeking a closer look at the geology of the Algarve coast.

Tour Itinerary
Check in at the white gate in front of Amuras Bar at least 15 minutes before departure. The captain provides a brief safety orientation before casting off.
The boat moves along the Lagos seafront, passing Praia da Batata and Praia dos Estudantes, offering an early introduction to the sandstone cliffs. Live commentary begins as the first rock formations come into view.
The vessel threads through the Corredor and beneath the Arco do Triunfo, two of the most dramatic natural passages on the route. The captain navigates carefully to allow passengers a clear view of the sculpted walls on both sides.
The tour enters the Cathedral, the Skull, the Kitchen, and the Living Room caves in sequence. The interplay of light and shadow inside each chamber creates a distinct atmosphere.
Passing the Siamese Twins and a series of animal-shaped rocks, the boat reaches quieter coves including Pinhao and Barranco Martinho. The captain identifies each formation with commentary.
The boat returns along the coast, rounding out approximately one hour on the water. Passengers disembark at the same departure point near Amuras Bar.
