Marsala Wine Tasting: 7 Wines and Traditional Sicilian Dishes at Alagna Winery
Step into the ancient tuff caves of a historic Sicilian winery and discover the flavours that made Marsala famous.
This guided Marsala wine tasting experience invites you inside the Alagna winery, a family-run estate active for over 75 years and recognised as a Historic Brand of Italy. You will sample seven wines drawn from 22 produced on-site, paired with traditional Sicilian snacks in an authentic and carefully curated setting.
The Alagna family tends approximately 50 hectares of vineyards spread across Marsala, Mazara, Trapani, and Salemi. Grapes such as Zibibbo, Nero d'Avola, Grillo, Catarratto, Inzolia, and Damaschino are cultivated using methods that balance tradition with modern sustainability, preserving local biodiversity while meeting international quality standards.
The cellar occupies ancient tuff caves, where oak barrels and modern pressing equipment coexist alongside areas dedicated to the Soleras ageing method. The combination of geology, craftsmanship, and local grape varieties produces wines that reflect the character of western Sicily in every glass.
The tasting includes explanations of each wine, its origin, and how it pairs with the accompanying food. Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply curious about Sicilian viticulture, the experience is structured to be informative, approachable, and genuinely enjoyable.
