Gozo, Comino and Blue Lagoon Caves — Half Day Malta Tour
Crystal-clear waters, sea caves, and island coastlines — four hours of pure Mediterranean discovery.
This Blue Lagoon Malta tour packs one of the Mediterranean's most celebrated coastlines into a single, well-paced half-day cruise departing from Cirkewwa in Mellieha. You will visit the iconic Blue Lagoon, the quieter Crystal Lagoon, the Santa Maria Caves, and the rugged harbourfront of Gozo — all without the fatigue of a full-day commitment.
The route follows Comino's western and northern shores, where turquoise shallows give way to dramatic limestone formations carved over millennia. Each stop is timed to give swimmers, snorkellers, and photographers a genuine experience rather than a fleeting glance from the deck.
The tour passes the historic Comino Tower, a watchtower recognised by fans of classic cinema for its appearance in The Count of Monte Cristo. The final leg traces the coastline back to port via the singular Elephant Rock, a natural limestone arch that frames the sea in a way few formations do.
Tour Highlights
Swim and snorkel in the shimmering turquoise shallows of the world-famous Blue Lagoon, one of Malta's most photographed natural sites.
Explore the Crystal Lagoon on Comino's western coast, a calmer and less crowded alternative with equally clear waters ideal for snorkelling.
Photograph the dramatic Santa Maria Caves and the unique Elephant Rock, two of Comino's most striking natural landmarks.
Cruise along Gozo's rugged northern coastline and take in the picturesque fishing harbour framed by centuries-old architecture.
Pass the historic Comino Tower, a 17th-century coastal watchtower with a notable film legacy recognised across Europe.
Glide through the tranquil San Niklaw Bay beside the Comino Hotel, a serene interlude between the busier swimming stops.
Visit the secluded Santa Maria Bay on Comino's northern coast, a quieter beach that rewards those seeking calm away from the crowds.
Itinerary
Board a comfortable vessel at Cirkewwa and set off across the Comino Channel. The cruise passes the historic Comino Tower shortly after departure, offering the first photo opportunity of the journey.
The boat anchors at the Crystal Lagoon on Comino's western side, where the water is remarkably clear and the seabed is visible from the surface. Guests can swim or snorkel in a setting that feels noticeably quieter than the Blue Lagoon.
The longest stop of the tour takes place at the Blue Lagoon, famous for its shallow sandy seabed and intensely blue water. Guests have a full hour to swim, snorkel, or simply float in one of the Mediterranean's most celebrated natural pools.
The cruise continues along Gozo's coastline, passing the characterful fishing harbour before gliding through the calm waters of San Niklaw Bay beside the Comino Hotel. This section is primarily scenic and ideal for photography from the deck.
Comino's northern coast reveals the peaceful Santa Maria Bay, a sheltered beach that sees fewer visitors than the Blue Lagoon. The stop offers relaxed sightseeing in a natural, undisturbed setting. This stop is excluded between October and December and on Sunset Tour departures.
The final stop before returning to Cirkewwa is a photo opportunity at the Santa Maria Caves and the remarkable Elephant Rock, a naturally sculpted limestone arch rising from the sea. The boat then makes its way back to the departure port.
