Trekking to Cala Goloritzè from Baunei
A wild limestone trail leading to one of Sardinia's most celebrated coastal jewels
The Cala Goloritzè trek is a full-day hiking adventure along the dramatic east coast of Sardinia, combining rugged limestone terrain, ancient geology, and a stunning natural beach that rewards every step of the journey.
Departing from Baunei in the heart of Ogliastra, the trail covers 8 kilometres with a 470-metre elevation difference, rated Hiking (E) in difficulty. The path winds through white limestone landscapes shaped over millennia, offering a window into one of the most geologically distinctive areas of the Mediterranean.
Along the route, the Aguglia di Goloritzè rises sharply from the earth — a celebrated pinnacle that draws climbers from across the world. The rocky arch that frames the sea to the north of Capo Montesanto stands as the defining symbol of this coastline and rewards those who make the descent.
At the end of the trail, the cala itself opens up: a white pebble beach flanked by turquoise water, sheltered by towering cliffs. Time here is unstructured — guests are free to swim, rest, and experience the rare stillness that defines this protected natural area.
