Discover Trogir Old Town & Klis Fortress
Two of Dalmatia's most celebrated historic sites in one seamless half-day journey.
This Trogir Old Town and Klis Fortress tour takes you from the Split waterfront to two landmark destinations that define Croatia's medieval heritage, all within a comfortable five-hour round trip.
Klis Fortress crowns a rocky ridge above Split and has guarded the region since the early medieval period, reaching its greatest strategic importance during the 16th-century Ottoman campaigns. A guided walk through its ramparts and towers reveals layers of military history alongside panoramic views of the Dalmatian coast and the islands beyond.
Trogir, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a compact island city whose urban fabric has remained virtually intact since the Middle Ages. Venetian palaces, Romanesque churches, and Renaissance loggias line streets narrow enough to touch both walls with outstretched arms.
Tour Highlights
Walk the battlements of Klis Fortress and learn how this stronghold resisted sieges for centuries.
Take in an unobstructed panoramic view of Split, its harbour, and the surrounding Dalmatian islands from the hilltop fortress.

Itinerary
Meet the guide at the Split Promenade (Riva) or the Cruise Ship Gate, looking for the Traveljaz sign board. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time to ensure a prompt departure.
The vehicle climbs to the hilltop stronghold of Klis, perched above Split on a narrow rocky ridge. Your guide leads the group through the fortress complex, covering its role in regional defense from the early medieval period through the Ottoman wars and beyond.
After the guided tour, free time allows you to photograph the sweeping views of Split, the coast, and the Adriatic islands. The elevation and open terraces make this one of the most photogenic vantage points in the region.
The group boards the vehicle and travels northwest along the coast to Trogir, a short and scenic drive. Upon arrival, the guide introduces the town's history and Venetian architectural legacy before the walking tour begins.
A guided walk through Trogir's historic core includes the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, Kamerlengo Fortress, and the main square. The tour also passes through residential lanes that illustrate how daily life in this UNESCO city has adapted around its medieval built fabric.
Ample free time lets you revisit favourite spots, browse the waterfront promenade, or stop at a local cafe. The vehicle then returns the group directly to Split to conclude the tour.
