Your guide and vehicle collect you from your Cairo or Giza hotel. The road to Fayoum leads through cultivated desert fringe, offering a gradual transition from city to countryside.
The first stop is Tunis Village, a small artisan settlement on the banks of Lake Qarun. The village is recognized for its pottery tradition and its calm, painterly setting.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, Wadi Al Hitan preserves fossilized remains of Archaeoceti, the ancient ancestors of modern whales. Specimens lie exposed across a sweeping desert plateau, accessible via a marked walking route.
