The first stop is Þingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set within a rift valley formed where two tectonic plates are pulling apart. Your guide covers both the geological significance and the historical importance of this site as the location of the world's oldest parliament.
The tour pauses for lunch, typically at Friðheimar, a greenhouse farm and restaurant near Reykholt. This working tomato farm produces much of its own ingredients and offers a distinctive dining experience inside the greenhouse itself.
