Private Gobeklitepe Tour from Istanbul by Plane
A single day to visit the oldest known temple on Earth and the sacred city of prophets
This private day tour gives you direct access to Gobeklitepe, a ritual hilltop sanctuary built roughly twelve thousand years ago that has redefined what historians know about the origins of human civilization. Departing from Istanbul by plane, the journey covers two of the most historically significant sites in the ancient world within a single day.
Sanliurfa, widely called the city of prophets, holds a layered past that stretches from the Babylonians through the Hurrites, Hittites, Assyrians, and Greeks. Its streets, covered bazaars, and sacred pools reflect centuries of continuous human habitation and spiritual tradition.
The day also includes Harran, a settlement mentioned in the Bible as the place where the prophet Abraham lived before continuing to the Promised Land. The distinctive beehive houses of Harran offer a visual record of architecture that has changed little over millennia.
A dedicated guide accompanies the group throughout, from airport arrival in Sanliurfa to the return flight to Istanbul, keeping the experience smooth and fully private at every stage.
Tour Highlights
Walk through the Urfa Archaeological Museum and view a major collection of artifacts recovered from the Gobeklitepe and Harran excavation areas.
Visit Ainzelha, the sacred lake in Sanliurfa filled with thousands of domesticated carp, a site of deep religious significance in the region.
Enter the cave traditionally identified as the birthplace of the prophet Abraham, a revered pilgrimage site located in the heart of the old city.

Walk through the covered bazaar of Sanliurfa and experience the daily rhythm of one of Mesopotamia's most enduring trading and cultural centers.
Itinerary
Your guide meets you at your Istanbul hotel and accompanies you to the airport for the flight to Sanliurfa. On arrival, a private vehicle and driver are waiting to begin the day.
After a light breakfast, the tour opens with a visit to the Urfa Archaeological Museum, home to an extensive collection from both the Gobeklitepe and Harran excavations. The group then visits the sacred pools of Ainzelha and the cave of the prophet Abraham.
A walk through the historic covered bazaar reveals the commercial and cultural heart of the city. The area preserves architectural and trading traditions that have continued for centuries in this part of upper Mesopotamia.
The group travels approximately 15 km northeast of Sanliurfa to reach the hilltop site of Gobeklitepe, built around 10,000 BC. The site features large T-shaped pillars arranged in enclosures and predates Stonehenge by more than six thousand years.
The tour continues to the ancient city of Harran, identified in the Bible as the settlement where Abraham lived before journeying onward. The characteristic mud-brick beehive houses provide exceptional photographic and historical interest.
The group drives back to Sanliurfa airport for the return flight to Istanbul. Upon landing, a transfer vehicle returns each traveler to their hotel.
