Buggy Tour on the Gennargentu from Aritzo
Rugged mountain trails, ancient forests, and sweeping highland views aboard a 4x4 buggy in the heart of Sardinia.
This Gennargentu buggy tour takes you deep into the mountain wilderness of central Sardinia, crossing mule tracks and scenic highland paths between the Barbagia of Aritzo and the rolling hills of Mandrolisai. The experience combines the thrill of off-road driving with a guided trekking segment at over 1,400 metres above sea level.
Departing from Aritzo, the route winds through chestnut forests, holm oak groves, and cork oak stands, revealing a landscape largely unchanged by modern life. A trained guide leads the group throughout, sharing knowledge of the area's natural environment and local history at every stop.
At the plateau, participants leave the vehicles and follow a 30-minute on-foot trail to a vantage point where mouflons, wild horses, and eagles have regularly been spotted. The return leg passes along the opposite side of the massif, offering a broad panoramic view of the Piana di Gesturi.
