Capri & Blue Grotto: Full-Day Tour with Guided Island Exploration
From the shimmering Blue Grotto to the lively piazzas and elegant gardens of Capri island
A full-day guided journey through Capri island takes you inside the legendary Blue Grotto, through the historic streets of Anacapri, and into the vibrant heart of Capri town. Over seven hours, a knowledgeable guide leads you to the landmarks, viewpoints, and hidden corners that define this celebrated island in the Bay of Naples.
The tour opens with the Blue Grotto, one of the most photographed natural wonders in Italy, where a small wooden rowing boat carries you through a low cave entrance into a chamber filled with an extraordinary cobalt light. The effect is caused by sunlight passing through an underwater cavity, and the result is unlike anything found elsewhere along the Italian coast.
From there, the itinerary moves through Anacapri, the quieter and more historically rooted of the island's two main towns. Visitors can choose to ride the chairlift to the summit of Mount Solaro, the island's highest point, or explore Villa San Michele, the home built by Swedish physician Axel Munthe, which now operates as a museum. The afternoon shifts to Capri town, where the Gardens of Augustus offer sweeping views over the Faraglioni rock formations and the celebrated Via Krupp switchback path below.

Itinerary
The tour begins at the entrance of Bar Gabbiano, where you meet your guide and receive an overview of the day ahead. From here the group proceeds directly to the Blue Grotto.
At the cave entrance you board a small wooden boat and are guided inside the grotto. The interplay of sunlight and seawater produces the intense blue glow that has drawn visitors to Capri for centuries.
The itinerary continues to Anacapri, the island's more traditional town. You have free time to explore at your own pace, visit the church of San Michele, or enter the grounds of Villa San Michele.
An optional single-seat chairlift carries you to the summit of Mount Solaro at 589 metres. The panoramic terrace at the top provides unobstructed views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the surrounding coastline.
In Capri town the guide leads you through the lanes around La Piazzetta and on to the Gardens of Augustus. From the gardens you can look down onto Via Krupp and out toward the Faraglioni rock formations.
Free time along Via Camerelle allows for independent exploration of the island's main shopping street before the group reassembles at the original meeting point for the afternoon conclusion of the tour.
