Fethiye All-in-One: Babadağ Cable Car, Kayaköy Ghost Town & Amynthas Rock Tombs
One day, four iconic stops, a lifetime of memories in the heart of the Turkish Aegean.
This Fethiye guided day tour combines four of the region's most compelling attractions into a single, well-paced itinerary suitable for travellers of all backgrounds. From the eerie silence of an abandoned village to panoramic views atop a 1,700-metre mountain, this experience delivers history, culture, and scenery without the logistical stress of planning it alone. Small group sizes ensure a more personal rhythm throughout the day.
Fethiye occupies a privileged corner of Turkey's Aegean coast, where ancient Lycian civilisation left its mark on cliffsides, valleys, and coastlines that remain remarkably intact. The four destinations visited on this tour each represent a distinct chapter in the region's layered story, from Hellenistic rock-cut tombs to a Greek Orthodox village emptied by a population exchange nearly a century ago.
The itinerary is designed to balance structured guided commentary with genuine free time, so participants are never herded from one site to the next without a moment to breathe. Whether you are a first-time visitor to Fethiye or returning to explore what you missed, this tour offers a coherent and unhurried introduction to the area's most defining landmarks.
Tour Highlights
Ascend to over 1,700 metres on the Babadağ Cable Car and take in sweeping views of Ölüdeniz and Fethiye Bay stretching to the horizon.
Walk through Kayaköy, a remarkably preserved ghost village of stone houses abandoned in the 1920s and frozen in atmospheric silence.
Stand before the Amynthas Rock Tombs, monumental Lycian facades carved directly into the cliff face above Fethiye city.
Explore Paspatur Old Town, a lively quarter of narrow lanes, artisan workshops, and traditional cafes at the core of Fethiye's cultural identity.
Travel in a small group of no more than 18 participants, allowing more time for questions, photographs, and personal exploration at each stop.
The Babadağ Cable Car ticket is included in the tour price, with no additional entry fees to arrange at the site.
A single itinerary covers history, culture, and natural scenery, making this tour an efficient and complete introduction to the Fethiye region.
Itinerary
Your guide leads a walk through the stone streets of Kayaköy, sharing the history of this Greek Orthodox village abandoned following the 1923 Greco-Turkish population exchange. One hour of free time follows, giving you the opportunity to wander among the roofless houses, photograph the valley views, or sit quietly in one of the small cafes near the site entrance.
The tour continues to the Lycian rock-cut tombs carved into the cliffs above central Fethiye, the most prominent of which dates to the 4th century BCE. After a guided explanation of Lycian burial customs and the political history of the region, you have 30 minutes of free time to explore the site, photograph the tombs, and take in the panoramic view of Fethiye Bay below.
A guided walk introduces you to Fethiye's historic quarter, a dense network of lanes lined with covered bazaars, carpet shops, jewellery stalls, and traditional tea houses. Two hours of free time allow you to shop for handmade crafts, sample local street food, or simply observe daily life in one of the most characterful corners of the Aegean coast.
The final stop takes the group to the Babadağ Cable Car terminal for the ascent to the summit station at over 1,700 metres above sea level. From the top, the full sweep of Ölüdeniz lagoon, Fethiye Bay, and the surrounding mountain ridges comes into view. Two hours of free time at the summit allow you to walk the viewing terraces, have a meal at the summit cafe, or simply rest and take in the scenery before the descent.
