Tour Itinerary
Your guide meets you at your Cairo hotel and transfers you to the Citadel of Salah El Din. From here, your exploration of Islamic Cairo begins with sweeping views over the city.
Inside the Citadel, you visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque, whose alabaster-covered walls make it one of the most visually striking mosques in Egypt. You then proceed to Al-Rifa'i Mosque, a 19th-century structure built to complement the older Sultan Hassan Mosque directly opposite it.
Dating to 1356, Sultan Hassan Mosque is among the largest religious complexes in the Islamic world. Its design incorporated four separate schools representing the principal Sunni legal traditions.
You drive to Al-Azhar Mosque, founded in 970 during the Fatimid Caliphate and historically linked to the Islamic scholar tradition. Nearby, El Hussein Mosque is visited as a site of deep religious significance for Muslims from across the world.
The tour concludes with a walk through Khan Khalili, Cairo's most celebrated historic marketplace. Narrow alleys are lined with workshops and stalls selling spices, textiles, metalwork, and traditional crafts.
