Maxi Dinghy Tour in the Gulf of Orosei from Santa Maria Navarrese with Aperitif
A full day sailing through the most dramatic coastline in Sardinia, with stops at legendary coves and a taste of local flavors.
This Gulf of Orosei boat tour takes you aboard a spacious maxi dinghy along one of the Mediterranean's most celebrated and wild stretches of coast, departing from the charming village of Santa Maria Navarrese. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, towering limestone cliffs, and secluded beaches await at every turn. The day concludes with a generous aperitif featuring genuine local products, making it as much a culinary experience as a nautical one.
The Gulf of Orosei is widely considered the crown jewel of Sardinia's eastern coastline, and this eight-hour excursion is designed to reveal its most iconic landmarks. From the dramatic Pedralonga spire to the thundering Baus waterfalls and the atmospheric Cave of the Pigeons, the scenery along the route is consistently spectacular. The skipper navigates close to the cliffs, offering perspectives that are simply not accessible on foot.
Three extended beach stops allow guests to swim, snorkel, and explore at their own pace, without the rush that shorter tours often impose. The vessel itself, a BSC dinghy measuring 7.80 meters in length and 3 meters in width, is equipped with an awning, a climbing ladder, and a large comfortable lounge area. The small group format of up to twelve participants ensures an intimate and unhurried atmosphere throughout the day.
Before returning to port, the itinerary passes through the narrow fjords between the walls of Capo Monte Santo, entering the sheltered inlets of Portu Cuau and Portu Pedrosu. These final passages offer some of the most dramatic geological scenery of the entire excursion. It is a fitting conclusion to a day spent in one of Italy's most naturally preserved marine environments.

Itinerary
The tour begins at the port of Santa Maria Navarrese, where the maxi dinghy sets off along the southern edge of the Gulf of Orosei. The skipper navigates northward, hugging the coastline to bring guests close to the cliff faces and geological formations that make this coast so remarkable.
During the sailing portion, the vessel passes the imposing Pedralonga spire, the Baus waterfalls, the Cave of the Pigeons, and the world-famous Cala Goloritzè, one of the most photographed spots on the Sardinian coast. The skipper provides context and information along the way.
Each of the three main coves receives a stop of approximately ninety minutes, giving guests ample time to swim, explore the shoreline, or simply relax. These beaches are only accessible by sea, ensuring an uncrowded and pristine experience away from the main tourist routes.
During the stop at Cala Biriala, guests have the option to visit the Fig Cave, a spectacular natural grotto that can be entered from the water. Tickets are purchased directly at the cave entrance. Those who prefer not to visit will enjoy an extended stop at Cala Biriala.
A generous aperitif of authentic Sardinian products is served on board, featuring ham, bacon, aged cheeses, jams, wine, and freshly made bread. Guests with dietary requirements including allergies, intolerances, or vegetarian and vegan preferences can be accommodated with at least two days' advance notice.
Before heading back to Santa Maria Navarrese, the skipper guides the dinghy through the narrow passages between the walls of Capo Monte Santo, including the sheltered coves of Portu Cuau and Portu Pedrosu. This final stretch offers some of the most dramatic scenery of the entire day before the return to port.
