6 Days Gems of South Iceland & Reykjavik
Volcanoes, waterfalls, geothermal lagoons, and highland wonders across Iceland's most spectacular south.
This South Iceland tour takes you through six days of geological wonder, from the vibrant capital of Reykjavik to the steaming highland oasis of Landmannalaugar, covering a remarkable breadth of landscapes at an easy, accessible pace.
From whale watching in Faxafloi Bay to walking behind the curtain of Seljalandsfoss waterfall, every day on this itinerary delivers a distinct and memorable encounter with Iceland's natural environment. The tour balances guided exploration with free time, giving travellers space to absorb each destination at their own rhythm.
The Westman Islands add a layer of volcanic history that few Iceland tours include, with a visit to the buried streets of the 1973 eruption and a walk up the crater of Eldfell. Landmannalaugar's rhyolite mountains and natural hot springs round out an interior highlands experience that contrasts sharply with the coastal scenery of the South Coast.
Whether soaking in the Sky Lagoon, witnessing real flowing lava at the Iceland Lava Show in Vik, or sampling craft beer at a geothermal microbrewery, this journey weaves together Iceland's natural drama with its cultural character in a format designed for curious, unhurried travellers.
Tour Highlights
Walk up the crater of Eldfell on the Westman Islands and explore the buried streets of the 1973 eruption at the Pompei of the North volcanic excavation site.
Spend three hours whale watching across Faxafloi Bay, where humpback, minke, orca, and blue whales are frequently spotted alongside dolphins.
Unwind at the Sky Lagoon, Iceland's geothermal spa where warm mineral-rich waters meet panoramic ocean views on the outskirts of Reykjavik.
Follow the trail behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall and photograph the thundering 60-metre drop of Skogafoss on the dramatic South Coast.
Attend the Iceland Lava Show in Vik, the only exhibition in the world where actual molten lava is poured in a room, allowing guests to see, hear, and feel it.
Hike toward Brenninsteinsalda, Landmannalaugar's rainbow mountain, through vivid rhyolite terrain with active sulfur springs and steaming vents.
Visit Olverk microbrewery in Hveragerdi for a behind-the-scenes look at geothermal-powered brewing and a tasting of Icelandic craft beers.
