Datong Private Tour: Yungang Grottoes, Nine Dragon Screen and Ancient City Walls
Four days exploring the heritage, cave art, and spiritual traditions of one of northern China's most historic cities.
This Datong private tour takes you through four days of layered history, from UNESCO-listed Buddhist cave art to glazed-tile spirit walls and centuries-old temples, all at a relaxed pace with private transfers and an English-speaking guide throughout.
Datong sits in the southwest of Shanxi province and serves as the gateway to some of China's most significant early Buddhist monuments. The city's old town retains a genuine historic atmosphere, with well-preserved walls and streets that reflect the influence of multiple Chinese dynasties.
The tour is structured to give you both guided excursions and free time to explore independently. Optional add-on tours are available on Day 3, allowing you to tailor the experience to your interests in architecture, religion, or traditional culture.
