          Pingyao is an ancient walled city in Shanxi Province, northern China, renowned for its preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architecture dating back to the 14th century. The city features traditional wooden buildings, narrow stone streets, and the historic Rishengchang exchange house, which pioneered Chinese banking. Visitors walk the intact city walls, explore temples, and visit museums housed in traditional courtyard buildings.
          Pingyao is located in Shanxi Province, northern China, approximately 90 kilometers south of Taiyuan.
