Municipal geography
Qatar has had eight municipalities since Al-Shahaniya was created in 2014. Doha Municipality borders Al Wakrah to the south, Umm Salal to the northwest, Al Daayen to the north and Al Rayyan to the west. Halul Island is also within the municipal boundary, about 90 km northeast of Doha.
Transport
Passenger services at Hamad International Airport started on 30 April 2014. The airport lies on Doha's eastern coast. Doha Metro started operating on 8 May 2019. Its Red, Green and Gold Lines meet at the Msheireb interchange in downtown Doha.
Climate
Doha's summer season is lengthy and intensely hot, while winter is brief with mild to warm conditions. Annual rainfall is limited, totalling around 75 mm.
