          More to know about Arkadi

Arkadi is a village in central Crete, Greece, situated in the Rethymno province. The area is centered around Arkadi Monastery, a 16th-century Venetian structure with a distinctive Renaissance façade. The monastery holds significant historical importance as a site of resistance during the 1866 Cretan rebellion. Visitors typically explore the monastery grounds, examine its architectural details, and hike the surrounding mountains.
Arkadi Monastery is located in the Rethymno regional unit of western Crete, Greece, approximately 23 kilometres southeast of Rethymno town at an elevation of around 500 metres. The site holds national significance as a symbol of Cretan and Greek resistance, particularly following the events of 1866, and is recognised as a protected cultural and religious monument under Greek and European heritage frameworks.
