Dinghy Tour with Snorkeling at Tavolara Marine Reserve
Explore the crystal-clear waters of north-eastern Sardinia aboard a comfortable dinghy with snorkeling stops at Tavolara and Molara islands.
This Tavolara snorkeling dinghy tour takes you into the heart of one of Italy's most celebrated marine protected areas, where conservation measures have allowed underwater life to flourish in remarkable abundance. Departing from Marina di Olbia, the journey covers a stretch of north-eastern Sardinia that combines dramatic limestone cliffs, granite coves, and seas of exceptional clarity.
The Marine Protected Area of Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo stretches along the southern edge of the Gulf of Olbia, encompassing the islands of Tavolara and Molara, along with a constellation of islets and rocky outcrops between Capo Ceraso and San Teodoro. The protection afforded by reserve status means fish populations are dense and the seabed is rich in colour and texture at surprisingly accessible depths.
The route is planned with flexibility in mind, adapting to the prevailing weather and sea conditions on the day of departure. The skipper selects the optimal stops from a range of proven locations, ensuring that each outing delivers the best possible experience regardless of conditions.
At least three snorkeling stops are included, allowing passengers to enter the water at leisure, observe marine life, and return to the comfort of the shaded dinghy at their own pace. The vessel carries full safety equipment and all snorkeling gear, so nothing is required beyond a swimsuit and a sense of curiosity.

Itinerary
The tour begins at Marina di Olbia, where passengers board the dinghy and receive a safety briefing. The vessel heads south into the Gulf of Olbia toward the marine protected area.
After approximately half an hour of navigation, the dinghy anchors near Capo Ceraso for the first snorkeling stop. Passengers can explore the underwater landscape and observe the marine life protected by the reserve.
The tour continues to Tavolara Island, where the sheer limestone cliffs plunge into the sea. Snorkeling here reveals a light-filled backdrop that descends quickly to considerable depths, offering a striking underwater perspective.
A ten-minute passage from Tavolara brings the group to the natural pools of Molara Island. The water here is famously clear, producing vivid contrasts between the sea, the granite rock formations, and the island's vegetation.
After the final snorkeling stop, the dinghy returns to Marina di Olbia. The itinerary is subject to modification based on weather conditions and the skipper's assessment on the day.
