Sataya Reef Gardens Snorkeling Day Trip with Spinner Dolphins
A full-day reef excursion from Hamata to one of the Red Sea's most celebrated dolphin habitats
The Sataya Reef snorkeling day trip takes you across six kilometers of pristine reef gardens where resident Spinner Dolphins share the water with colorful corals and diverse marine life. Suitable for first-time snorkelers and experienced swimmers alike, this experience is designed for families and individuals who want genuine wildlife interaction in open water.
Sataya Reef sits at the southern end of the Egyptian Red Sea, accessible by a comfortable two-hour boat journey from Hamata port. The reef plateau forms a natural lagoon that shelters an unusually large resident pod of Spinner Dolphins, making encounters here consistent and meaningful rather than chance sightings.
The trip is structured to allow ample time in the water at two distinct locations. Your first stop is the dolphin habitat at Sataya, where you enter the water alongside the pod in their natural environment. A second snorkeling stop introduces you to the reef's coral gardens and the wide range of fish species that inhabit them.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with a full lunch served on board and refreshments during the journey. The moderate difficulty rating reflects the open-water snorkeling, though guides provide full equipment and assistance for those with limited experience.

Itinerary
Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel, where a representative will meet you and arrange transport to Hamata port. The drive offers a view of the southern Egyptian coastline before you board the boat.
The boat departs Hamata for an approximately two-hour crossing to Sataya Reef. Welcome drinks and snacks are served as you settle in and watch the open sea pass by.
On arrival at the reef, guests enter the water equipped with masks and fins for the main snorkeling session with the resident Spinner Dolphin pod. Guides accompany the group to ensure safety and maximize wildlife interaction.
After returning to the boat, a prepared lunch is served while the vessel moves toward the second snorkeling site. This break also allows time to rest and dry off between sessions.
The second stop brings you to a coral garden where you can observe the reef ecosystem at a more leisurely pace. Colorful reef fish, coral formations, and other marine life are typically visible from the surface.
The boat returns to Hamata port and guests are transferred back to their hotels. The full excursion concludes in the late afternoon, leaving time for an evening at leisure.
