Turtles and Manatees Snorkeling in Port Ghalib
Dive into the wild heart of the Red Sea and swim alongside its most iconic residents.
This turtles and manatees snorkeling tour in Port Ghalib offers a full-day guided boat experience through some of the most biodiverse reef systems in the Red Sea. Suitable for all skill levels, it combines two dedicated snorkeling stops with the rare possibility of encountering a dugong in its natural habitat. Hotel transfers and onboard lunch are included for a complete, hassle-free day.
Port Ghalib sits within the Marsa Alam region, recognized internationally as one of Egypt's premier marine conservation areas. The coastal waters here shelter an exceptional variety of marine species, from green and hawksbill sea turtles resting on coral outcrops to the elusive dugong drifting through seagrass beds offshore. Few destinations in the Red Sea offer reliable access to both in a single outing.
The trip runs on a comfortable boat with a professional guide team whose knowledge of local reef topography significantly increases the chance of meaningful wildlife encounters. Snorkeling gear is provided on departure, so guests need only bring their enthusiasm and a willingness to explore.
Between snorkeling sessions, the deck provides an ideal vantage point for watching the dramatic coastline of the Eastern Desert meet the sea. A freshly prepared onboard lunch and soft drinks keep energy levels up for the afternoon reef visit.

Itinerary
Guests are collected from their hotel in Port Ghalib or the nearby Marsa Alam area. The short transfer brings you to the marina, where the boat and guide team are waiting. A safety and equipment briefing takes place before departure.
The boat anchors at the first designated reef site, chosen for its vibrant coral gardens and high density of tropical fish species. Guides lead the group along the reef wall, pointing out resident sea turtles and notable coral formations. This session typically lasts around 45 to 60 minutes.
The boat navigates toward the offshore seagrass beds where dugongs are known to feed. The guide team will scan the surface and shallow zones for signs of the animal. Even without a sighting, the area offers calm, clear water and a distinct underwater landscape.
A prepared lunch is served on deck as the boat moves between sites. Soft drinks and water are available throughout the day. This rest period allows guests to dry off, review their underwater photos, and enjoy the coastal scenery.
The afternoon session visits a second reef location, often quieter than the morning stop. Light conditions in the afternoon enhance visibility and bring out the full color range of the coral. Turtles are frequently spotted resting on the reef shelf at this site.
The boat returns to Port Ghalib Marina in the late afternoon. Guests are transferred back to their hotels to complete the round-trip experience. Equipment is collected onboard before disembarkation.
