Cinque Terre Hiking Small Group Tour from La Spezia Train Station
Trek ancient cliff-side trails, wander colorful fishing villages, and discover the wild beauty of the Italian Riviera in one unforgettable day.
The Cinque Terre hiking tour takes you through some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Europe, following centuries-old mountain paths that weave between vineyards, rocky headlands, and five storied villages clinging to the Ligurian cliffs.
Departing from La Spezia train station with a knowledgeable tour leader, you travel by train to Manarola and immediately begin ascending trails that reward every step with sweeping views of the Mediterranean. The route is graded challenging, meaning the terrain is uneven and the elevation gain is real, but the experience is proportionally rewarding.
The itinerary carries you through Corniglia, perched more than 100 meters above the sea, then down to Vernazza, widely regarded as the best-preserved maritime village in the Cinque Terre. The day closes in Riomaggiore, where a panoramic terrace frames the entire Gulf of Cinque Terre before the return train to La Spezia.
Tour Highlights
Panoramic Mediterranean views from the high mountain trails between Manarola and Corniglia.

Small group format ensures a more personal pace and easier access to trail sections.
Itinerary
The group assembles at La Spezia train station and boards the first train together toward the Cinque Terre. The tour leader provides an overview of the day's route and safety guidelines before departure.
Arriving in Manarola, one of the smallest and oldest of the five villages, the group sets off on foot along the high coastal trail. The path climbs through terraced vineyards with dramatic views of the rocky coastline below.
The trail descends into Corniglia, the only Cinque Terre village with no direct sea access, sitting more than 100 meters above the water. After exploring its medieval alleyways, the group takes a lunch break before continuing.
A short train ride brings the group to Vernazza, considered the best-preserved example of a traditional Ligurian fishing town. Free time here allows visitors to stroll the harbor, visit the main piazza, or simply take in the scenery.
The final stop is Riomaggiore, where a panoramic terrace offers a sweeping view of the Gulf of Cinque Terre and the village's distinctive stacked architecture. After free exploration time, the group returns by train to La Spezia.
