Glacier Express Route Private Tour from Zurich
Travel the legendary alpine corridor with a private guide, no tourist crowds, and full flexibility.
The Glacier Express Route Private Tour takes you along one of Switzerland's most celebrated rail corridors, covering glaciers, gorges, and high mountain passes over the course of a single day from Zurich.
This tour is not the commercial Glacier Express service. Instead, it follows the same scenic sections aboard regular Swiss trains, giving you comfortable seating with wide windows and the freedom to stop, explore, and linger where it matters most.
A knowledgeable local guide accompanies your private group throughout the journey, offering context on the landscapes, villages, and railway history you encounter along the way.
From the dramatic cliffs of the Rhine Gorge to the high-altitude calm of the Oberalp Pass at roughly 2,000 meters, the route presents a cross-section of Swiss alpine geography that is rarely matched in a single day.

Itinerary
Your guide meets your group under the Blue Angel sculpture on the ground floor of Zurich Hauptbahnhof. From here, you board the first train heading toward the Swiss canton of Graubunden.
Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland and the capital of Graubunden. Your guide provides an introduction to the town and its significance as the gateway to the alpine south.
The train winds through the Rhine Gorge, a dramatic limestone canyon carved by the young Rhine River. This section of the route is widely considered one of the most striking rail landscapes in Europe.
You stop in Disentis, a charming mountain village home to a Benedictine monastery dating back to the 8th century. An optional relaxed lunch is available here before continuing the journey.
The train climbs to the Oberalp Pass, the high point of the day at roughly 2,000 meters above sea level. The surrounding glacier landscape and open alpine terrain offer outstanding views.
The descent brings you to Andermatt, a traditional alpine ski village with a distinct military and mountain heritage. After a brief visit, you board the return train to Zurich.
