Po Delta Sunset Boat Tour: Explore Isola dell'Amore and Wild Nature with Aperitif
Glide through reed beds and lagoons to a lighthouse beach that few visitors ever reach
This Po Delta sunset boat tour takes you deep into one of Italy's most ecologically significant wetland landscapes, tracing the Po di Goro River toward the Adriatic and ending at a secluded barrier island that is accessible only by water.
The Po Delta is a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of the largest river delta systems in the Mediterranean. The journey along its waterways reveals a world of tidal flats, reed marshes, and fishing traditions that have shaped this corner of Emilia-Romagna for generations.
At the heart of the experience lies Isola dell'Amore, a pristine sandy island where a historic lighthouse stands against an open horizon. The beach here is entirely undeveloped, offering a rare encounter with an Italian coastline free of crowds or commercial infrastructure.
The return leg into Goro brings the tour to a close with a convivial aperitif at the Vela Blanca Bar, where the lagoon views provide a fitting backdrop to an evening spent on the water.
Tour Highlights
Navigate the Po di Goro River through authentic delta wetlands and calm lagoon channels.
Step ashore at Isola dell'Amore, a lighthouse island reachable exclusively by boat.

From June to September, witness the purple bloom of limonium flowers across the salt marshes.
Observe clam farming, blue crab fishing, and local aquaculture practices along the route.
Watch the sun descend over open water before concluding with a riverside aperitif in Goro.
Itinerary
The tour begins at the dock in Gorino, a small fishing village on the southern bank of the Po di Goro. The boat heads out into the river channel, with reed beds rising on either side as the delta landscape opens up around you.
As the boat navigates downstream, your guide points out the working elements of the delta economy: clam beds marked by buoys, crab traps along the banks, and aquaculture enclosures stretching into the shallows. The wetlands here support an exceptional concentration of wading and diving birds.
The boat reaches the mouth of the Po di Goro and pulls up to Isola dell'Amore. Guests disembark onto the beach and walk to the lighthouse, exploring the shoreline at the edge of the Adriatic. The island has no road access and no permanent facilities, preserving a sense of genuine remoteness.
The timing of the tour is arranged to place guests on or near the island as the sun approaches the horizon. The flat delta terrain and open sea combine to produce wide, unobstructed views of the fading light across the water.
The return journey brings the group into Goro, a working fishing port known for its mussel and clam production. The tour concludes with a shared aperitif at the Vela Blanca Bar overlooking the lagoon, before guests are returned to Gorino.
