Sea Turtles Marsa Mubarak — Boat Trip with Snorkeling in Marsa Alam
Glide alongside sea turtles and discover rare marine life in one of the Red Sea's most celebrated bays.
The sheltered waters of Marsa Mubarak snorkeling offer a rare encounter with wild sea turtles, vibrant coral gardens, and the possibility of spotting the elusive dugong in its natural habitat. This full-day boat excursion from Marsa Alam is guided by an experienced marine instructor and is accessible to snorkelers of all levels.
Marsa Mubarak is a protected bay renowned among divers and snorkelers for the resident green sea turtle population that feeds on the seagrass beds. The calm, clear conditions make it an ideal setting for unhurried observation without disturbing the animals.
Beyond the turtles, the bay supports a rich ecosystem of tropical fish, hard and soft corals, and occasional sightings of the dugong, a gentle marine mammal rarely encountered in accessible snorkeling zones. Every visit to the site is different, shaped by tidal movement and the behavior of the animals present on the day.

How the Day Unfolds
The group boards the excursion boat at the designated meeting point in Marsa Alam. Safety briefings and equipment fitting take place before the vessel sets out toward Marsa Mubarak bay.
On arrival at Marsa Mubarak, the instructor leads the group into the water to explore the seagrass beds where sea turtles are regularly observed feeding. The pace is gentle, allowing close but respectful observation.
A second snorkeling session focuses on the reef structures surrounding the bay. Participants can observe schools of tropical fish, sea fans, and the diverse coral formations characteristic of this protected marine area.
The group returns to the boat for a prepared lunch served on deck. This rest period also presents an opportunity to scan the surface for dugong activity in the surrounding waters.
A third optional snorkeling slot gives participants additional time in the water before the boat returns to Marsa Alam, completing the seven-hour excursion.
