From Cala Gonone: RIB Tour in the Gulf of Orosei
A full-day voyage along Sardinia's most dramatic coastline, from secluded coves to crystalline natural pools.
This Gulf of Orosei boat tour takes you aboard a rigid inflatable boat from Cala Gonone to explore one of the Mediterranean's most protected and visually striking stretches of coastline. The route covers iconic stops including Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu, and Cala Goloritzè across a full day on the water.
The east coast of Sardinia conceals a series of beaches and sea caves that are inaccessible by road, making boat travel the only practical way to reach them. An experienced skipper navigates the route and adjusts stops based on sea conditions, ensuring both safety and the best possible experience at each location.
The vessel is an inflatable Clubman 26, built in 2015, measuring 8 metres in length with a 3-metre beam. It accommodates up to 12 participants alongside the skipper and is equipped with an awning for shade, a climbing ladder for water entry, a stereo system, and full safety and first aid equipment.
Each main stop allows roughly 90 minutes for swimming, exploring the shoreline, or walking into the caves. The Piscine di Venere and Cala Goloritzè are visited as offshore stops, where participants swim directly from the boat to the natural formations.
Tour Highlights
Swim at Cala Mariolu, where white pebbles and transparent water create one of the most photographed beaches on the island.
Enter the caves of Cala Luna, historically used as shelter by the endangered Mediterranean monk seal.
See the natural rock arch at Cala Goloritzè, a geological landmark rising from the sea at the base of sheer limestone cliffs.
Float in the Piscine di Venere, a sequence of brilliantly blue natural rock pools fed directly by the sea.
Travel along vertical cliff faces and wild coastline that form the protected marine area of the Gulf of Orosei.
Navigate with a qualified skipper aboard a fully equipped and certified rigid inflatable boat with shade and safety gear.
Reach Cala Sisine, a remote beach framed by dense macchia vegetation that is only accessible by sea or long trail.
Itinerary
The tour boards at the port of Cala Gonone and heads south along the coast. The skipper provides an orientation on the vessel and the planned route before departure.
The first shore stop is at Cala Luna, a crescent-shaped beach flanked by tufa caves. Guests can swim, explore the cave interiors, and walk along the pebble shoreline for approximately 90 minutes.
Two additional shore stops follow at Cala Mariolu, known for its white and pale-pink pebbles and vivid water, and Cala Sisine, a quieter cove backed by dense coastal scrub. Each stop allows around 90 minutes.
This offshore stop gives participants the chance to swim in a series of semi-enclosed natural pools carved into the rock face. Entry is from the boat via the climbing ladder.
The final stop is at Cala Goloritzè, one of Sardinia's most celebrated coastal sites. Guests swim to the beach and the area beneath the natural arch before returning to the vessel for the journey back to Cala Gonone.
