From Cala Gonone: Full-Day Boat Trip in the Gulf of Orosei
Crystal-clear coves, sea caves, and Sardinian hospitality along one of Europe's most pristine coastlines.
This Gulf of Orosei boat trip takes you along the rugged eastern coast of Sardinia, visiting legendary coves and turquoise waters that are largely inaccessible by land. Departing from Cala Gonone, you spend a full day in the company of a knowledgeable local skipper who brings the landscape to life with stories and insider knowledge. The itinerary is flexible, allowing the boat to linger where the sea and the moment invite it.
The Gulf of Orosei is widely regarded as one of the most unspoiled stretches of Mediterranean coastline, and experiencing it from the water offers a perspective that no road can provide. Sheer limestone cliffs drop directly into water that shifts from deep cobalt to transparent turquoise in the shallows. The coves you visit, including Cala Luna and Cala Goloritzè, are recognised natural monuments protected within the Gennargentu National Park.
Throughout the day you will have opportunities to swim and snorkel directly from the boat at anchor in calm, sheltered bays. The Piscine di Venere, or Pools of Venus, are natural rock formations where water gathers in shallow, warm basins ideal for relaxing. A lunch stop at Cala Sisine provides time to explore ashore, with a local refreshment point and facilities available on the beach.
At the close of the day, the skipper offers a welcome aperitif on board consisting of a glass of local wine and a traditional Sardinian sweet. It is a fitting way to mark the end of a day spent entirely in contact with the natural landscape of eastern Sardinia.

Itinerary
The trip begins at the port of Cala Gonone, where you board the boat and meet your local skipper. The vessel heads south along the coastline, entering the protected waters of the Gulf of Orosei.
An early stop at this quiet, sheltered inlet gives the group a first opportunity to swim in calm waters. The cove is small and relatively secluded, offering a gentle introduction to the day.
Cala Luna is one of the most photographed beaches on the Sardinian coast, framed by golden dunes and cave openings at the waterline. Nearby, the Piscine di Venere offer natural rock pools where guests can wade and relax.
The boat anchors at Cala Sisine for a midday break. A local refreshment point on the beach serves food and drinks, and toilet facilities are available ashore.
The boat passes Cala Goloritzè, allowing guests to view the iconic limestone arch and the vivid blue inlet from the water. Landing at Cala Goloritzè requires a separate hiking permit and is not included in this itinerary.
On the return leg, the skipper serves the welcome aperitif of local wine and a traditional Sardinian sweet on board. The boat arrives back at Cala Gonone harbour in the late afternoon.
