Tour Itinerary
Check in at the Clube Naval de Portimão at the Portisub building, located next to the Portimão Museum, at least 30 minutes before departure. The vessel sets off along the Arade river toward the open coast.
The route passes the whitewashed village of Ferragudo and the 17th-century Forte de S. João do Arade. The crew shares context on the area's seafaring and fishing history.
The boat continues west along the cliffs, passing the Ponta do Altar lighthouse and the resort town of Carvoeiro. Passengers can observe the dramatic ochre rock formations up close from the water.
The boat enters Benagil Cave through its sea-level arch, revealing the famous domed ceiling and interior beach. This is the centrepiece of the tour and time is given for photographs inside the grotto.
The tour continues to the layered limestone cliffs and sea stacks of Praia da Marinha. On suitable days, the vessel pauses and passengers may swim in the sheltered coves.
