Una River Rafting from Plitvice Lakes
Two routes, one unforgettable river — choose your level of adventure on Bosnia's wildest waterway.
Set out from Plitvice Lakes National Park for a full-day excursion to the Una River rafting experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where cascading rapids, emerald pools, and dramatic canyon scenery await at every bend.
The Una River is widely regarded as one of the most scenic whitewater rivers in the Balkans, cutting through limestone gorges and forested valleys along the border between Croatia and Bosnia. Two distinct routes are offered, allowing participants to select the challenge and pace that best suits their group.
The Adrenaline Route covers 17 kilometres from Štrbački Buk to Lohovo, taking between three and four hours on the water. It features a succession of rapids, rock-jumping spots, and natural swimming sections that reward those seeking an active, high-energy day on the river.
The Family Route follows a calmer 14-kilometre stretch from Kostela to Grmuša, lasting approximately two and a half to three hours. It is well suited to beginners, families with children, and anyone who prefers a more relaxed pace with time to swim and enjoy the surroundings.
Tour Highlights
Navigate the Una River's famous cascades and rapids on one of two purpose-designed rafting routes.
Depart directly from the Plitvice Lakes area, combining two of the region's most celebrated natural landscapes in a single day.
All rafting gear, a qualified skipper, insurance, and National Park entrance fees are included for both routes.
Rock jumping and natural swimming holes are built into the Adrenaline Route for added excitement.
The Family Route offers a peaceful paddle through forested riverbanks ideal for relaxation and socialising.
A welcoming drink and equipment fitting session is provided before departure to the river, followed by a meal break on return.
Itinerary
The group assembles at the meeting point near Plitvice Lakes National Park and boards transport for the drive to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The journey to the Una River sports centre takes approximately one to one and a half hours.
Upon arrival at the sports centre, participants receive a welcoming drink and are fitted with rafting equipment. This orientation period lasts around one hour before the organised departure to the river starting points.
Both groups set off simultaneously from their respective starting points with a qualified skipper leading each raft. The Adrenaline Route covers 17 km with rapids and rock jumping; the Family Route follows 14 km of calmer, swimmable water.
Both rafting groups finish at their designated endpoints and return to the sports centre by mid-afternoon. Equipment is returned and participants have time to change and rest.
A meal break is provided at the sports centre following the activity, giving the group time to refuel and share the day's experiences before the return journey.
The group boards transport back toward the Plitvice Lakes area. Arrival at the original hotel or meeting point concludes the full-day excursion.
