Private Full Day Guided Highlights of Istanbul Tour
Seven hours of history, culture, and timeless architecture across the old city on foot.
This private full-day guided Istanbul highlights tour covers the most significant landmarks of the historic peninsula in a single, well-paced day, with skip-the-line tickets already arranged so no time is lost at entrance queues.
Because Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar are all within walking distance of one another, the entire experience unfolds on foot through the ancient streets of Fatih district. Walking at ground level allows visitors to absorb architectural details, street life, and spatial relationships between monuments that a vehicle-based tour would obscure.
A private format means the pace, depth of commentary, and focus areas adjust to the group rather than a fixed schedule. Your local guide brings context drawn from direct familiarity with the city, turning well-known sites into layered narratives rather than simple sightseeing stops.

Itinerary
Begin the day at Topkapi Palace, the vast complex that served as the primary residence and administrative center of the Ottoman sultans during the 15th and 16th centuries. Your guide will walk you through the imperial courtyards, treasury, and harem sections, placing each space within its historical context.
A short walk leads to Hagia Sophia, originally completed in 537 AD as the patriarchal cathedral of Constantinople and for nearly a thousand years the largest Christian church in the world. The building's layered history as a Byzantine cathedral, Ottoman mosque, secular museum, and active mosque again makes it one of the most historically dense structures on earth.
Directly across the Sultanahmet square stands the Blue Mosque, built between 1609 and 1616 under Sultan Ahmed I and still functioning as an active place of worship. The interior is lined with more than 20,000 hand-painted Iznik tiles, which give the mosque its popular name.
The Hippodrome, now At Meydani square, was once the ceremonial and entertainment hub of Byzantine Constantinople, capable of holding up to 100,000 spectators. Several ancient monuments including the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpent Column, and the Column of Constantine still stand along its central spine.
The group takes a break for lunch in the surrounding area, allowing time to try local cuisine at a nearby restaurant of your choice. Lunch costs are not included in the tour price.
The tour concludes with a visit to the Grand Bazaar, which dates to 1461 and encompasses over 30,700 square meters of covered shopping streets. With more than 4,000 shops selling textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and spices, it remains one of the most visited sites in the world.
