Delphi and Meteora Two-Day Private Tour from Athens
Ancient oracles, Byzantine masterpieces, and sky-touching monasteries in one unforgettable journey.
This Delphi and Meteora 2-day private tour takes you from the heart of Athens through two of Greece's most spiritually and historically significant landscapes, combining archaeological wonder with Byzantine heritage and natural grandeur.
The first day brings you to Delphi, where ancient Greeks believed the world's navel lay, and to the remarkable Monastery of Hosios Loukas, a tenth-century Byzantine treasure set against the foothills of Mount Hellikon. The second day opens with the rock-pinnacle monasteries of Meteora, suspended above the Thessalian plain and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Itinerary
Depart Athens and travel to Delphi on the southwestern slope of Mount Parnassus. Visit the Castalia Spring, the ancient Sanctuary of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians, the ancient Theatre, and the ancient Stadium that hosted the Pythian Games every four years.
Explore the Delphi Archaeological Museum and come face to face with the celebrated bronze Charioteer, one of the finest surviving examples of ancient Greek bronze sculpture. The museum houses artifacts recovered from the sanctuary and surrounding area.
Drive through Levadia to reach the Monastery of Hosios Loukas, founded in 945 AD on the western foothills of Mount Hellikon. Admire the magnificent Byzantine mosaics and the architecture before continuing to Kalambaka, your overnight base near Meteora.
After breakfast at your hotel, visit three of the six Meteora monasteries built atop natural sandstone rock pillars. These UNESCO World Heritage sites date to the eleventh century and remain active places of worship. Among them is the Monastery of Holy Trinity, made internationally famous by a James Bond film.
On the return journey, pass through Thermopylae, the historic mountain pass where a small Greek force made its legendary stand in 480 BC. The tour concludes with the drive back to Athens.
