Arrabida Natural Park and Setubal Private Tour
Limestone cliffs, ancient castles, and the deep blue of the Atlantic on a fully private journey through Portugal's most spectacular coastal region.
The Arrabida Natural Park private tour takes you through one of Portugal's most visually striking coastal landscapes, where white limestone cliffs plunge into crystal-clear turquoise waters and dense Mediterranean scrubland covers the ridge of the Serra da Arrabida. This eight-hour private experience moves at your pace, from iconic Lisbon landmarks to hidden fishing villages and the dramatic headlands of the Atlantic coast.
Departing across the iconic 25th April Bridge, the tour opens with a sweeping panorama of Lisbon from the Sanctuary of Cristo Rei, a vantage point that sets the tone for a day defined by grand perspectives. The route then turns south toward the windswept plateau of Cabo Espichel, where a singular monumental ensemble of baroque pilgrimage buildings stands at the very edge of sheer sea cliffs.
The medieval castle of Sesimbra overlooks the whitewashed village below, a working fishing port whose harbour fills with colourful boats each morning. Continuing east along the coast, the Serra da Arrabida reveals successive viewpoints over beaches whose water clarity rivals the Mediterranean. The day concludes in Setubal, a city framed by estuaries and hills that has served as a gateway to this protected natural park for centuries.
Because this is a fully private tour, the itinerary can be adjusted to your interests and pace. Whether you want more time exploring the castle ramparts, a longer stop at a coastal viewpoint, or a leisurely lunch in Sesimbra village, the experience is shaped around your group.

Itinerary
The tour begins with a crossing of the 25th April Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Europe. The Sanctuary of Cristo Rei on the southern bank offers a celebrated panoramic view over Lisbon, the Tagus, and the surrounding hills.
The route continues southwest past the Albufeira Lagoon, a coastal wetland of notable ecological value, before reaching the plateau of Cabo Espichel. Here, a baroque pilgrimage complex and a lighthouse mark the southwestern extremity of the Setubal Peninsula.
Sesimbra Castle dates from the Moorish period and was later rebuilt by the Portuguese crown in the twelfth century. Below the castle, the village of Sesimbra retains its character as a fishing community, with a sheltered bay, a lively waterfront, and traditional architecture.
The Serra da Arrabida runs along the southern coast of the peninsula, sheltering beaches of exceptional water quality beneath its white limestone cliffs. The natural park is home to a rich Mediterranean-type vegetation and some of the clearest seawater found along the Portuguese coast.
The day ends in Setubal, a historic port city flanked by the Sado Estuary to the south and the foothills of the Arrabida to the north. The city centre offers a glimpse of Manueline architecture, local markets, and a seafront promenade.
