Adventure in Croatia: Hike, Eat & Enjoy — 8-Day Group Tour
Eight days of hiking, culture, island life, and authentic flavors across central Dalmatia.
This Croatia hiking and cultural tour takes small exclusive groups through three distinct regions — Zadar, Brač Island, and Split — combining national park treks, UNESCO-listed old towns, and genuine local food experiences in a single carefully structured itinerary.
The programme moves from the rugged karst gorges of Paklenica and the cascading lakes of Plitvice to the sun-bleached stone quarries and vineyard paths of Brač, offering a physical and cultural range rarely found in a single trip. Difficulty is rated moderate, meaning most active adults can participate without prior mountaineering experience.
Every overnight location has been selected to place participants close to the next day's activity, reducing unnecessary travel and maximising time on foot. Dinners on selected evenings are included, giving travellers a structured introduction to Dalmatian cuisine without removing the freedom to explore independently on other nights.
The tour closes in the historic city of Split and the medieval island city of Trogir, both of which carry layers of Roman, medieval, and maritime heritage that reward even a short guided walk.
Tour Highlights
Climb Vidova Gora (778 m) on Brač Island for panoramic views over Bol, Hvar, Vis, Korčula, and the Pelješac peninsula.
Hike through Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Europe's most celebrated karst landscapes, with its interconnected turquoise lakes and tufa barriers.
Explore Paklenica National Park, where dramatic limestone gorges and diverse flora make for some of the most striking trekking in the Adriatic hinterland.
Walk through Trogir's old town core — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and see the 13th-century Cathedral of St. Lawrence and its master-carved Radovan Portal.
Visit Diocletian's Palace in Split, a fourth-century Roman imperial structure that remains one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in the Mediterranean.
Take part in a guided wine tasting on Brač Island, paired with a curated platter of regional produce sourced from local artisan producers.
Discover the Blaca Hermitage, a 16th-century monastery reachable only on foot, built by Glagolitic priests who fled to the island to escape Ottoman incursions.
Itinerary Overview
Arrive at Split Airport and transfer north to Zadar. The evening is free to settle in and explore the waterfront at your own pace. Overnight in Zadar.
After breakfast, head into Paklenica National Park for a guided hike through the Velika Paklenica canyon, with a picnic stop along the trail. In the afternoon, a walking tour covers Zadar's Roman forum, medieval churches, and the sea organ before a group dinner in the old town. Overnight in Zadar.
A full day is dedicated to hiking the trails of Plitvice Lakes National Park, where boardwalks wind between sixteen terraced lakes connected by waterfalls. The geology of Triassic dolomites and Cretaceous limestone shapes everything visible here. Return to Zadar for the night.
Morning visit to Krka National Park includes an 8.5 km trail past the travertine waterfalls of the Krka River and a short boat ride to the island monastery of Visovac. After the park, the group transfers to Split Harbour, boards the ferry to Supetar, and continues by bus to the island hotel. Overnight on Brač Island.
A walking tour links the stone-built villages of Ložišća and Dračevica via old olive and vineyard paths, passing the Rendić Bell Tower and the Jakšić Gallery of stone sculpture. The day ends with a guided wine tasting and a tasting platter of local produce. Overnight on Brač Island.
Bus transport to Vidova Gora is followed by a descent on foot through Dragovode to the remote Blaca Hermitage, reachable only by trail. The 16th-century monastery houses a museum open to visitors before the return hike to the bus pickup point. Overnight on Brač Island.
